MEDICAL MISSION PROGRAM

In addition to collecting and distributing unused medical supplies, Partners for World Health plays a critical role in both health care delivery and education in developing countries.

OVERVIEW:  PWH organizes Medical Mission trips through Africa and Southeast Asia. The Medical Mission experience is approximately two weeks in length and is for physicians, nurses, medical residents, non-medical volunteers and college students who are members of a PWH Chapter.  We partner with a hospital or clinic in the host country and bring thousands of pounds of medical supplies and equipment with us.  We provide surgical and primary health care services to facility patients in partnership with the hospital staff.  In addition, a significant portion of our program is focused on providing education and skills training to nurses, nursing students and community health workers in the host country.   A final part of the PWH Medical Mission Program  for our team is non-medical work, such as cleaning, painting and minor repairs.

COLLEGE STUDENTS & MEDICAL RESIDENTS: The PWH Medical Mission Program offers college students and surgical residents an incredible opportunity to provide healthcare in the developing world in a structured, educational and safe environment.  We've had nursing students from SMCC and St. Joseph’s College,  medical students from UNE , and OB GYN and surgical residents from hospitals in Maine and Massachusetts  travel with us.  W.e are now welcoming students  members of PWH college and university Chapters as well!
